Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how (“Divya Marg”, “we”, “us” or “our”) handles information in connection with the Divya Marg app and the website at https://www.divyamarg.in. We built Divya Marg to be a private, personal chanting companion, so our default is to keep as little data as possible off your device.

1. Information stored on your device

To let you chant offline, Divya Marg stores the following locally on your device by default:

• Chant counts, mala completions and session timestamps;
• Your streak history and daily targets;
• Your chosen mantra, bead style, theme (light/dark) and language;
• Reminder times you set;
• Your display name and profile image, if you choose to set one.

This data is used only to power features inside the app, such as your streak calendar, hourly chart and session list. It is not required to be shared with us for the app to function.

2. Information we may receive

If you contact us directly (for example, by email), we receive whatever information you choose to include, such as your name, email address and the content of your message. If our app or app store listing uses standard, privacy-preserving analytics or crash reporting in the future to help us fix bugs and improve stability, we will disclose exactly what is collected in this section before doing so.

3. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information;
• We do not require an account, phone number, or government ID to use the core app;
• We do not read the content of your chanting sessions for advertising purposes;
• We do not show third-party ads inside the app at this time.

4. Permissions the app may request

Depending on your device and the features you enable, Divya Marg may request permissions such as vibration/haptics (for count feedback), notifications (for daily reminders), audio playback (for chanting cues) and, on some devices, volume-button detection (for volume-button chanting). Each permission is used only for the feature it supports, and most can be turned off from your device or app settings.

5. Privacy Mode

Divya Marg includes an in-app Privacy Mode that lets you hide your chanting screen and statistics from onlookers while using a shared or public device screen. Privacy Mode is a display setting within the app and does not change what is stored or transmitted.

6. Children’s privacy

Divya Marg is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

7. Data retention and deletion

Locally stored data remains on your device until you clear the app’s storage, use the “Reset All Data” option in your profile, or uninstall the app. If you have contacted us by email, we retain that correspondence only as long as needed to respond to and resolve your query, unless we are required to keep it longer by law.

8. Your choices

You can reset your chanting data at any time from Profile → Reset All Data. You can change or revoke notification, vibration, or audio permissions from your device settings at any time.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last updated” date above whenever we make material changes, and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
